I have been vacillating about taking my coffee making gear with me on my travels. Over the last few years, my coffee gear has been with me to camping trips, road trips, work-related travel, and indulgent holidays by the pool. My brother has almost talked me out of bringing my gear on this trip. He reckons it is not worth the hassle. Also, I don’t know if I want to be lugging that much stuff around, although there is not much lugging to be honest. He says that coffee is Thailand is cheap.
My coffee conundrum. It torments me. It claws at my very soul. Oh nectar of the gods, send me a sign!
Ok — deep breathe — so grinding the beans can be a hassle, but the bigger issue is where will I get beans on the road. I know I can get them in Singapore, though not so sure about Ko Lanta. So I will have to find a roasted coffee bean supply.
How much roasted bean do I need? (Its a need, not a want) A cup of coffee is 22 grams of beans so one packet of 500 grams has 22-23 cups of coffee — thats about 10-11 days of coffee. So for a month i would need approximately 1.5kg of coffee beans. And add the complexity of the ideal maximum 2 week shelf life of roasted beans. I need to establish a supply line of roasted coffee beans! Anyone want to organise an airdrop!
#firstworldproblems much?
And I don’t even want to get into the kettle and milk issues here.
